The Fall 2020 semester has been a crazy and unpredictable one to say the least. However, in the midst of the global pandemic we have continued to push forward and continue to improve our chapter. *While wearing our masks and social distancing, of course* A huge shoutout goes to Dr. Hurley and the rest of the administration at Tarleton for their continued commitment to keep our university safe, but allowing and trusting us to continue on with our events.
A recap on some important highlights from last Spring that were not shared:
-Our chapter received recognition for having the highest term (3.38) and overall (3.02) GPA across all fraternities on campus
-Historian, Jacob Mesecke, was awarded the first installment of the Daniel Jones Tarleton Delta Chi Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Rush week was a success, as we brought in six new Associate Members:

Randon Grimm, Finance, Justin, TX
Hatcher Heavyside, Mechanical Engineering, Lipan, TX
Morgan Israel, Ag Business, Arlington, TX
Jason Yelvington, Ag Education, Bridgeport, TX

While events have been altered to meet university guidelines, we have been able to have a lot of fun this semester. We have participated in the Delta Zeta Golf Scramble Philanthropy event, the Duck Launch and Silver Bugle during Spirit/Homecoming Week, as well as various other Brotherhood/Informal Recruitment Events.
We are excited to finish out the semester strong, stay tuned for another update next week!
This past week was "slow" following our very successful recruitment week. We pinned and officially welcomed in our six new Associate Members at chapter on Tuesday.

After chapter and our Associate Member meeting, the rest of the week included celebrating the inauguration of our new Tarleton State President, Dr. Hurley. The brothers had a great time at all of the events on campus during the week in what was a true celebration for our new leader. To conclude the week, we finished our intramural basketball season with a loss in the semi-final round to Kappa Delta Rho, by a score of 50-41.
This week we will be having chapter and Associate Member meetings on Tuesday, and we will spend the rest of the week studying hard for midterms as we gear up for Spring Break next week!
WELCOME TO THE BROTHERHOOD, GENTLEMEN!
What a week it was! The most stressful week each semester, formal recruitment week, was in full swing! We finished the week with FIVE new associate members, and as always, are continuing to find more.
Monday was our first event of the week, ballrooms. Ballrooms is our formal night, where prospective new members bounce from each fraternity, getting a first glimpse of the men and what they all stand for. Our night turned out to be very successful, as we attracted eleven men to our next event, "Steaks and Swings!"
"Steaks and Swings" took place at President JET Tople's house on the the golf course. We grilled steaks and hit balls on the driving range, as well as playing Wii golf in the living room. All of the brothers had a great time getting to know the new guys and explaining to them why Delta Chi is the best fraternity in the world.
Wednesday our event was "Billiard with the Brothers." Another successful night, we served pizza, drinks, and had plenty of good laughs with each other while playing pool.
Thursday night we closed with our final event, hosting a 2K and Madden video game tournament. We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, threw the football around, played cornhole, and had lots of competition on the TV screen. Quickly after our event, we rushed over to the rec center for our basketball game against Lambda Chi Alpha, where the brothers put up a good fight, though ultimately falling to the first-place team.
Finally on Friday we had bid day, where we got to welcome our new brothers home! After the ceremony, we treated the new associate members to dinner at Grumps Burgers.
As the successful week comes to a close, we will now be back to regular business and welcome our new guys in with open arms and start teaching them what it means to truly be a Delta Chi. Our schedule this week includes chapter on Tuesday, and our final basketball game of the regular season against Sigma Chi on Thursday night at 8:00.
We're back! After a week of technical difficulties with our website, we are happy to post our second update of the semester. We had a lot to do over the past two weeks, so we are going to try our best to hit the highlights!
-We attended RLC at Louisiana Tech University. We had a lot of fun, but also learned a ton about our positions and the fraternity as a whole. We are excited to implement some of the new ideas we learned during this semester!
-We got to help out with Alpha Gamma Delta's 26th Annual Picnic Basket Auction that benefited the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation.
-Our basketball team went 2-1 over the past two weeks. Picking up a win over Alpha Gamma Rho, and then splitting two games with Kappa Delta Rho.
-Our chapter had a very successful night at "Meet the Fraternities" to help introduce other men on campus to Greek Life and get them ready to participate in formal recruitment.
-Several men went and participated in buying baked goods from the Phi Mu Bake Sale, where all proceeds benefited the Children's Miracle Network.
-Our WONDERFUL Sweetheart brought us cupcakes to chapter for Valentine's Day!
Overall, we have had an eventful and very busy two weeks. This week will be even busier as we get ready to tackle Spring Formal Recruitment. Our chapter has made great strides in the right direction this semester, and we plan to continue, and carry that over to recruitment. Enjoy the pictures, and we will see you back next week with an update on recruitment week!
Welcome to our very first weekly update! The chapter has decided that we want YOU to know what we are doing each week, whether you are an alumni, parent, potential new member, a brother, or just a student at Tarleton. Our plan is to provide an update every Monday with some pictures so that you can keep in the loop on what is happening around Stephenville! This week the brothers of Delta Chi were very busy:
On Saturday, the newly elected officers of the fraternity headed out on a day long retreat in Granbury where they participated in an escape room to work on team skills, bonding, and finding each others strengths and weaknesses. The brothers had a great time working their way out of the room and they enjoyed dinner together afterwards. This years Exec. team is excited to get to work together, and they have big aspirations for the future of the chapter.
On Wednesday, we had a get together at Panda Express to help support the ladies of Phi Mu and their philanthropy event. The ladies organized a fundraiser where a percentage of each meal purchased would go to the Children's Miracle Network, and we were happy to enjoy some great food for a great cause!
To end the week, we participated in our first Greek Basketball League game of the season Thursday night! The brothers had a phenomenal night as they outscored their opposition, Phi Kappa Sigma, 45-15 and won via mercy rule. The brothers dedicated the game to the late NBA superstar, Kobe Bryant.
This week, the brothers will be participating in Alpha Gamma Delta's 29th Annual Picnic Basket Auction on Tuesday night, which will be followed by our weekly Chapter Meeting. On Thursday, we have another basketball game at 7:00 in the Rec. against Alpha Gamma Rho. We hope to see you all at the game supporting the best men on campus! Friday, several members will head off to Ruston, Louisiana where they will be participating in this years Regional Leadership Conference on the campus of Louisiana Tech University. It will be another busy week for our chapter, but we wouldn't have it any other way!
